Preparation comes first. Before painting, every hole and dent in the walls was filled and patched, and the drywall seams on the ceiling were taped and finished so they would not show through the new paint. The whole floor was covered with heavy protective paper taped along the baseboards, and a vacuum was kept on site to keep sanding dust under control.
The finished room. After the prep, the walls were painted in a warm neutral color and the ceiling was refinished. The patches and ceiling seams are no longer visible – compare the before and after photos taken from the same spot.
Second room. In a second room of the building the gray walls had dozens of patched areas. Each one was sanded smooth with a dust-extraction sander, shelves were wrapped in plastic, and the walls were painted in the same warm neutral color for a clean, even finish.
